BUILDING IN WOOD
Designed by: Audun Hellemo
Using wood as the main material, we were asked to design a place to sleep in. The main goal for this assignment was to be especially aware of the relationship between construction and expression. I decided to use the old norwegian technic called "laft" but sought to transform this outdated way of constructing into a visually modern expression. By cutting out pieces of the solid wooden wall I let light into the construction, and by making the openings smaller the longer you went into the room I made a careful transformation from the light on the outside to the total darkness on the inside where the bed would be.

Bjørn: "It's not often I admit this, but I was wrong and you were right."
